How did that go?

Doesn't seem like Karbine Kyle allows comments on his 'heads up', so I'll use this page.  THANKS for the update on the generic Subutex.  I've been on Suboxone now for about 3 years.     I was a [filtered word] abuser for years and then went to Methadone, and finally got straight for 26 years.  Unbelievably I fell off the cloud after all those years.

I got a terrible shoulder and neck problem and started on prescription Oxycodone30s.....WOW it didn't take long for the old junkie mentality I suppressed for years to reer it's ugly head.  Went to Diladid and even H again before I put the brakes on to save my life again.  After a divorce and loss of too much to go into, I finally found this Suboxone.  8 mils a day keeps the Devil away.......and the long term pain too.

I do not have insurance and now knowing a generic is available is GREAT.  Thanks for posting.

Subutex/Victor...

Victor.....I was just reading your post and wanted to let you know that my dr recently switched me from Suboxone to Subutex and the mfg is on backorder until June or July (probably longer.) My pharmacist and I called about 20 pharmacies last week and I finally called the mfg (Roxane) and they said that there is such a huge demand for the Subutex that they can't keep up. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you won't be disappointed like I was last week. BUT...maybe you will get lucky and find some!! Wink

I am about to go to a doctor

I am about to go to a doctor that prescribes Suboxone.  None that I've called will even try prescribing me generic Subutex.  They all sure want a lot to help too.  I've called several around here and cheapest is $400 (some up to $600) to start and then varying $65 - $100 per visit.  I do have insurance, but they won't take it for the office visits or that $400-$600.  I can get the Suboxone for $80/mo though.  I just really don't have the money for all this and don't see how you others get by on the amounts you have to pay!  I am currently getting unemployment and my other half has me on his insurance.  I am going to apply for disability soon as no one will hire me since I have narcolepsy and my sleep is very random.  I have been on Fentanyl pain patches for a while.   I have been depressed all my life (for no reason) and nothing has worked very long.  I was really planning my suicide when my best friend (who has access to a lot of opiates because he has MS) They even give too much for him to use, so he gave me some of these to beg me not to kill myself.  I don't think I would anyway because I do love my partner, but #%^*! I was so miserable and have been for so long!  I've been getting treatment for depression for 13 years now, I think..  I have even had ECT (Electroshock Therapy) and that didn't help at all.  I'm 29 years old.  This past 6 months of being on opiates has been the best time of my life (doing the opiates) but I also here that the suboxone is good for depression, so I'm hoping it will be the wonder drug.  Anyway, sorry to ramble.  Just wanted to explain my situation.  Thanks Kyle for all the info and everyone else for their info and inputs.

What did I get myself into?

I went to a detox center for six days. I was taking 16 Percs a day.I got clean if that's what you want to call it, what a mess. My doctor took one look at me and sent me to a Doc that could prescibe suboxone. So now I am on just another drug right. On top of that I have gained 15 pounds in just 2 weeks. I was not offered subutex which seems to me a better drug because it is only one drug and I am not a shooter.  Will the subutex make me gain wait? I was not getting high from the percs anymore but these suboxone are crazy, just trading ome for another. Now I will be strung out on Suboxone. Whats the difference??

i was on kadian 400mg/day. 200mg bid. its morphine sulfate.

for me it was a nightmare. 3 1/2 years of morphine sulfate "kadian" what a pretty name for herion in a capsule. i went from 160lbs to130lbs in that time. 1 day i had enough and checked into a detox center in pennsylvania. i went for a week and stayed for a month. the doctors and staff there saved my life. I have been on suboxone since the day i left. im on 24 mg (8mg 3 x a day) suboxone. 1 year ago i never heard of sub.now it has given me my life back.the last post here i just read said "trading 1 drug for another". that's too bad that you think that way. yes,i take sub,and yes,its a drug, this past year i got involved in 1 on 1 with a therapist and 2 groups a week for support. suboxone by itself is not gonna fix the damage morphine has done to my life.im 51 years young, and im gettin my life back 1 day at a time.it took 3 1/2 years to mess my life up,and 1 year to get it back.not a bad trade...sorry for goin on like this...thanks

hi bille c, i hafta agree with you on the cost of suboxone

and the doctors who prescribe it and the pharmacists who dispense it. if you have any methadone & suboxone clinics in your area look into them before you go to these money pits masquerading as caregivers.i was on pain management taking kadian for the last 3 1/2 years,so i know just how expensive it can get. im on SSI and could never have afforded it w/o state insurance. i have seen posts from people who found doc n pharm who will take their insurance or work with them so they could get help. good luck ...pete

generic subutex

Just wanted to pass some info along about the generic subutex. Tomorrow will be my first day taking the generic instead of brand name, hopefully it all works out well. I switched from Methadone to Suboxone about 3 years ago and developed terrible precipitated withdrawal, consequently my doctor put me on Subutex to limit my suffering. From what I was told by my pharmacist and doctor is that they were making the generic, then the maker (Roxane) discontinued it. So if you check around different pharmacies (I live in Maryland), you may be able to find one that has a supply left. The generic was about 1/3 cheaper than the brand name, which my (stupid) insurance should be thanking me for. Anyway, hope eveyone's having a great summer.

Roxane has not discontinued

Roxane has not discontinued generic subutex (buprenorphine sublingual tablets in 2mg & 8mg) they have however been on backorder from the manufacturer due to supply being higher than anticipated. I would assume by now the supply chain has been brought back up to where it should be since Roxane was suppose to be increasing production. Also, there is another manufacturer, Barr pharmacueticals, that just got approval to make generic subutex and from atleast one post here at pharmer they are aleady on pharmacy shelves, since this person had some of the 8 mg tablets. As a last little fyi Roxane also has approval to manufacture generic suboxone but supposedly they are having trouble getting the sublingual naloxone part formulated properly.

Kyle!

I wanted to comment about the combination of benzos and opiates, suboxone in particular. My brother took both and right in front of me had a major seizure!!! No kidding and I do believe it is quite dangerous. People have died from this. Just wanted to put this out there because in my opinion, better safe than sorry! Good luck to you!!
