tape

you can use this type of tape to cover the whole patch, you can tape around the edges though

http://www.amazon.com/Tegaderm-Transparent-Dressing-Box-10/dp/B0009Q01AO

" Take a look at the picture of these Tegaderm "cover patches" or transparent Dressings. The sticky part of it is around the edges"

" You can get these cheaper off of Ebay." allgood posted

I know this post is a little

I know this post is a little old but do the 25 mcg Mylan's come in a tan color?  I know the Mylan's 75 are clear but why would any manufacture make them in a tan color?  Clear goes with anyones skin tone. htmom

re: 25 mcg Mylan's come in a tan color?

Suppose they did make a tan color patch:

Maybe, it's because a patch that is tan in color would look kind of like a band-aid to the average person that the patient comes in contact with in his/her life.

I could see how that might reduce the stigma the patient felt if it worked.

I am just guessing with that idea, because I really don't know the answer to your question.

When I was on them, I would

When I was on them, I would usually get a different brand each month, my favorite was Jassen non gel 50mcg patch. I have oily skin and this patch tends to stay on and the pharmacy will offer the patch that seals over it for free which really helps.

This patch for some reason says it has 8.4mg while other ones say 5.1 and 5mg, the problem too was that the mylans on me for some reason would work for only 48 hours.  I will start sweating to death and feel horrible and this never happened with Jassen.

I am off of them now cause of this issue, he wouldn't prescribe a 3rd box just in case if they wear off in 2 days or fall off and then what do you do, you are screwed.  Fent raises your tollerence to the point that your other medication no longer works well.  I was just on a bad combo, I can see it working right if the combo is correct, if not it can be h***.

I liked the fact that you get use to it and even though you feel the pain still, you REALLY feel the pain a lot more without the patch so that was nice and I was able to sleep very well which I miss at the moment, my sleeping has just become terrible!  I go to a fitness center and enjoy the spa and sauna which I wasn't doing at all when I was wearing these, so that was a problem.  The day I go and take it off is when I just go in the spa and take it off later, pretty much gone!

Try going to some pharmacies and say you are on Fent and ask if they have Tegaderm, really they will give you some for free as crazy as this sounds cause I know how expenisve they are.  being on the 50mcg and when you get the gel ones, the are much bigger so more money.

Before I found a pharmacy that would offer Tegaderm for free, I was paying for the 3M large size Tegaderm patches which came out to be about 60 dollars for 10, I have really oily skin so I needed them.

Fentanyl 75mcg

I don't have insurance and this is a VERY expensive med so I did some calling.  Best price I got w/o insurance for 10 of the 75mcg was $110 at Sam's club.  The manufacturer is Watson and they x*#& for the adhesive quality and it doesn't seem to work too well.  But that's an excellent price.

I have tried multiple brands

I have tried multiple brands trying to find both the cheapest and most effective. I am using Apotex right now, 200mcg/h with a Tegaderm cover and it seems to be the one I will stick with.

At Target, they are $100/box of 5 100's, and I also get my Oxycodone 15mg pills there as well. Lowest price in town, $28 for 100/month.

This is old but...

I just wanted to say, I think it's perfectly acceptable to need to change my patch every other day-- my PDoc is cool with it.  I don't feel like I can shower comfortably with ANY of the patches on.  I went through every Generic to find one that stuck really well.  I just ended up back with the Mylan.  They DO send a Tegaderm-like patch cover--but good luck with that.  Kinda hard to maneuver!  I've settle into wearing my patches under my bra on the sides or to the back.  I don't have trouble getting the sticky stuff off.  It's a matter of having the time to steam and soak it!

Nice to meet y'all!
