Hello pharmers, been a little while. I got some dental work done about November 19th and was prescribed Norco 10/325. I have 23 left and will not be getting anymore prescribed. I'm fine with it. Dentist told me originally 1 tab Q6h. Then in recent follow up appointments, 1 tab Q8h, and on this final appointment, 1/2 - 1 tab Q12h. I understand he was tapering me off. Just feel crappy without them. I would assume this as normal. I have just over 20 left over. Anyone suggest how I should taper, I work with a school district and will be back to January 4th. I want to be off them by then. I have maintenance medication that I get from my psychiatrist. Xanax, temazepam, seroquel, visteral, carisoprodol, and trazodone. He knows of this all this and said to be off any pain medication before my next appointment January 28th. Yes he drug tests, which I think is great, keeps out all the seekers and addicts. Any help is welcomed. Penny for thoughts.

Just follow the taper given you

It is normal, how many days are you supposed to taking each reduced dose? How long were you on them?
If you were only on them a short time, a fast taper shouldn't be difficult or result in you feeling badly.
If you were taking them on a fairly regular schedule, then try taking a half tablet , twice a day ,12 hours apart, for two days, then one half tablet mid day, for two days, then 1/4 tablet mid day for a day, then none...

Schedule

Well the procedure was done November 19th. That was day 1. It's just that my wife is getting on my case with the fact of me feeling unsociable, irritated with our kids easily. She doesn't have the time that I have off so I watch and do everything with my son and daughter and when she gets home and hears "dad was tired we didn't do anything" she gets mad. I've showed her the withdrawal symptoms online and from what my dentist said and she just seems to think that I should feel normal without any of the consequences. I've taken hydrocodone for coughs, bronchitis and such so the feeling of knowing how I would react was expected, but I've never taken it for more than a week until recent. Not using Tussionex and such is no problem after only a week. But I had no idea the grip it could have on a person with just a little over a month's worth of use. I just lack energy, anything (legal) to substitute for it should do the trick I guess. Penny for thoughts.

The aftermath.....

I agree with Sandi. As you have found, hydrocodone is not without a down side. The phrase "cuts BOTH ways " may apply here.

Your wife may be responding from her own stressors. As a mother, the tensions can run high.  You have, no doubt, had a difficult 2 month.  You volunteered that you had other ongoing health issues. Those plus the dental surgery are probably complicating the picture too. Communication with a spouse can be difficult at best but add some stress and you have a more difficult picture. Try to be considerate of her and, hopefully, she may respond with more support. I know, easier said than done.  I'm there with you!

From your post you seem to be tapering OK. It is hard, very hard at times. Through this time of healing, you need support and you might not be able to get it from your spouse. Reach out to those who can empathize - the "pharmers", trusted friends and, hopefully, your physician.

Thank you

I appreciate the responses. Today was day 1 of work. I have to say, since I posted, I was 3 days without any hydrocodone. I failed last night and took 1 tab but cut in half. So 1/2 take at 8pm last night and another at like 4am. I have 5 left now. I'm trying to deal.

Glad to say...

I am totally off hydrocodone and feeling like myself again! I actually got 1 last script for 15 ultracet to end it all. Now 10 days going strong. Thanks for all that replied back. Pennies for Thoughts.
