Need to find someone who may have experienced this potential nightmare. I only take the various prescribed drugs writen by the doctors who I've been seeing for a long time. Neurolgist has me on cervical dystonia meds, Carbadopa/Leva, Baclofen and Clonazepan plus botox injections every three months. PM doc performs various procedures on my back, head, neck and after other trying other pain meds Opana's generic Hydromorphone Er and Ir's work well for me. My Rhuematologist has been treating for osteo arthritis with Celebrex, Prednisone and Colcrys. Last August (2015) my quarterly bloodwork showed I inherited my families Rheumitoid Arthritis. She started my on Sulfasalazine and Folic Acid the next day. These two meds are the change to my regime.

My PM doctor and I have a terrific relationship. I had just developed into the real Humpty Dumpty with all sorts of stuff hitting me about 10 years ago, the Ortho group who had performed too many surgeries recommended him. I was one of his first patients at this newer office, we got along great, great staff, got along with most of the PA and NP who came thru his office. I've never had a problem with a urine test until February2016; at my regular app't I had a random UT, The next day or day after his nurse called, said the doctor wanted me to take another UT and she said I could go to an office closer to my home, I said of course, didn't ask why, thought it got lost or dropped, never thought it was a problem. I didn't wait a day, went in the day, filled the cup, didn't hear a thing back. At my next app't I was to see the PA for trigger point injection and refill scripts, but the doc came in with her. I don't think he fully saw the text results of the UT because he just wanted to reinforce me about the increase in the overdoses and to make sure I got the Eviza filled

Finishing the 8 Years Sulfasalazine Post

I thought I was saving my super long post about the urine test but opened my laptop, looks like it posted. Sorry, I'm new at this, so I'll try to finish this too long of a story and hope they can connect somehow and I can get a couple of comments. I left off with the my PM doctor making sure I filled my script for Evzio, my bring me back to life injection. I did fill it, with a little bit of protest. I have never so much as nodded out on the couch except for a planned nap I told him, but he tilted his head, gave me that I'm going to win this look and said my insurance would pay, I was done, and for $30 I have it.

So both urine test showed positive for something I wasn't taking, morphine or codeine. I think he was as shocked as I. He asked about cough syrup, poppy seed bagels any other reasons for it to be there, I had none, is your wife possibly trying to off you by slowly drugging you in kidding kind of way. I was stunned, never imagined I would be in such a situation. I had nothing, I guess I went into a defense mode, what do I say. I couldn't just sit there, out came the only drugs I do are presribed by the my doctors and are filled by two pharmacies, 30 day and 90 day. After all the times you've told me about people just not waking up, the relationship we've had for so many years, and after the nurse called for me to re-take the UT I didn't hesitate; I took nothing. Then I asked if it was possible the new RA drug interfered. He left the exam room, came back after what seemed like a long time, said the drug test people said there had to be morphine or codeine in my system but he also said he found one blip on the internet about Sulfasalazine causing a problem on UT's. I did leave with a prescription for the Hydromorphone Er at the same strenght and amount but cut 2/3rd's of the IR's. I kinda protested but knowing he probably could have fired me I accepted. He also gave me an order for a blood test which I did the next day. I also faxed to his NP the Sulfasalazine Drug Fact Sheet that showed it could interfer with some lab test.  The lab did not follow the proper protocol, so I went back for another draw. I saw him again for a procedure and agreed to genetic testing. No results from the lab on the blood work, left again with prescriptions. I truely appreciate that he is still working on me, having a tough time without the additional IR's.

My next app't is soon, this has been going on for way to long, this needs to be put to rest. The genetic testing results of some markers will be in his hands soon but as I understand there wil be some discussions with his tech before completion. I do hope the lab tech is efficient in diagnosing the blood, I need my integrity restored with my doctor. The last 8 to 10 years have been full of pain, stress, lost dreams and deadends. The worry over this has been tremendous, and at no fault of mine.

This has been a long story about a simple drug interaction question, hope someone has an answer for me.

Thank you

Kind of late

For some reason, I feel like I know the proper way to handle this, but can not express it properly. That being said, I am posting this as a "bookmark" to come back to when I am more awake (Saturday=sleep day).
